In 2011, a group of dedicated educators came together with a shared conviction:lasting national progress begins with education. From this conviction emerged SEED — Society of Educators for Education Development — founded under the leadership of Mr. Faisal Jameel Thakur, the organization’s first Chairman. SEED was not established as a charity dependent on short-term interventions. It was created as a reform-driven institution committed to strengthening systems, building human capacity, and empowering communities across Pakistan. What began as focused educational support has since evolved into a nationally engaged development organization.
SEED’s journey started with strengthening the foundations of learning:
However, experience soon reinforced a deeper understanding:A child cannot learn without health.A teacher cannot perform without support.A community cannot progress without empowerment. This realization expanded SEED’s mission into health and community development — integrating school health programs, maternal and child awareness, youth development, and community capacity building.SEED does not implement isolated projects. It builds ecosystems of sustainable change.
